Bekämpfung von Wurzel-, Woll- und Schmierläusen / Treatment of Mealy Bugs and Root Mealies

Präparate:

Neudosan und Promanal, 2%ig verdünnt mit Wasser (= 100ml Promanal und 100 ml Neudosan auf 10 Liter Wasser). Der Trick besteht in der Mischung der beiden Präparate. Die Anwendung ist völlig unproblematisch, da Seife und Öl organischen Usprungs sind, die Wirkung mechanisch durch Ersticken erfolgt, es handelt sich also um kein Gift!

Soll die Wirkung erhöht werden, kann der oberen Mischung Spruzit 0,1%ig (10ml auf 10 Liter Wasser) zugegeben werden. Vorsicht! Handschuhe tragen, Berührung mit der Haut vermeiden, Sprühnebel nicht einatmen.

Behandlung:

Woll- und Schmierläuse werden drei mal im Abstand von einer Woche mit der Brühe gespritzt.

Wurzelläuse

Von der Brühe eine ausreichende Menge zum Eintauchen der befallenen Wurzeln anrühren. Die von der Erde befreiten Wurzeln eintauchen und auswaschen, anschließend die Pflanzen zum Trockenen in eine Kiste legen, nicht einzutopfen. Nach etwa einer Woche auf Neubefall (durch unentdeckte Gelege von Eiern oder Larven) kontrollieren und die Behandlung wiederholt. Wenn eine Woche lang kein Neubefall auftritt erfolgt die Abschlußbehandlung. Danach die Pflanzen in saubere Gefäße topften und auf gereinigten Stellflächen aufgestellen.

Zukünftig sollte der Bestand genau kontrolliert, gegebenenfalls sofort behandelt werden. Gelege an den Pflanzgefäßen und Stellflächen (weiße "Wollklümpchen") können durch Eintauchen und Abwaschen der oben beschriebenen Rezeptur beseitigt werden.

Prophylaxe

Wurzel-, sowie Woll-Läuse sind neben anderen Schadorganismen Schwächeparasiten. Sie können in der Etablierungsphase einer Pflanzung auftreten, aber auch, wenn notwendige Wachstumsfaktoren in ungenügendem Maße vorhanden sind. Zu prüfen sind die Lichtverhältnisse und insbesondere die Ernährung der Pflanzen mit Kakteen-Dünger. Wir empfehlen Kakteennährsalz FLORY 4 oder Gabi-Kakteendünger.

Treatment of Mealy Bugs and Root Mealies

Products:

Neudosan and Promanal as a 2% solution in water (= 100ml Promanal and 100 ml Neudosan per 10 litres of water). The idea is to mix both substances. Treatment is entirely trouble-free as soap and oil are of organic origin and work mechanically by suffocating the pests, i.e. there are no toxins involved!

To increase effectiveness a 0.1% solution of Spruzit (10ml auf per 10 litres of water) can be added to the solution above. For your own safety please ensure you are wearing gloves; avoid skin contact and inhalation of the spray.

Treatment:

Mealy bugs should be sprayed with this solution once a week for 3 consecutive weeks.

Root Mealies

Prepare enough solution in which to stand the roots of an infested plant. Loosen the soil from the roots, drench and wash them in the solution, and leave the plants in a box to dry out without repotting them. After about a week check for new infestation (by eggs or larvae not detected the first time round) and repeat treatment. Only when no new infestation has occured after a week can final treatment be applied. Repot the plants in clean pots or containers and stand them on cleaned surfaces.

Thereafter, the collection should be inspected regularly and thoroughly and treated immediately if necessary. Nests on plant pots and surfaces (woolly white "lumps") can be removed by dipping and washing with the solution.

Prevention

Root and other mealy bugs belong to the group of "weakness parasites". They can attack plants when they strike roots, but also when some essential growth factors are in short supply. One should ensure availability of the right amounts of light and, in particular, of cactus-specific fertilizer. We recommend cactus feed FLORY 4 or Gabi cactus fertilizer.
